Solid Rock was formed in February of 2014 as a response to the need for a worship band for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes annual Fields of Faith event. In the past, it was always difficult getting busy student musicians together once the new school year began in August. Ron Bratton, FCA representative for Daviess and Martin counties in southern Indiana, had the idea of getting together some students in the late winter/early spring and practicing some song and getting comfortable with each other; maybe even playing at a few churches for some experience.  Ron first recruited band director Jeff VanderMel to serve as musical director of the group and long time friend Trevin Sims to head up technical issues like sound and video production who also trained T.J. Miller on sound

Then it was on to the musicians. Ron's desire was to include one student from each of the surrounding schools so the each school could be represented. Never did anyone realize how quickly they would come together as close as they have as friends.

Now we have moved on to Solid Rock II.  Doug Klopfenstein has joined with Ron and Jeff to help out with sound. His musical ear and years of involvement with worship music is a asset to the group.
